Through the month of November, there will be a series of performances of “Found Objects” by the composer James M. David (based in Fort Collins, CO). I was honoured to be asked to animate the four short pieces that make up this composition using my own work. I took this opportunity to create new work, using stop-motion animation, of my process oriented drawings.

I wish the ensemble the best in this series of performances in the United States. To be performed at: Auburn Museum, LaGrange College, Columbus State University, and Colorado State University.

Butterflies at the Gladstone Hotel

Noon – 5pm

I will be installing and working on this piece throughout the week, and on the weekend it will be ready for you to get the first peek! This is an exciting piece for me, it has been dancing in the shadows of my mind for a few years, and finally I have the space and time to see it come to fruition. Sweet imaginings and the culmination of work that has taken place in Colorado, Nova Scotia and finished here, at home in Toronto.

I would like to thank the Ontario Arts Council for funding this project and Akimbo for the award of the space!

Wonderful Challenges!

Strange, interesting and exciting things coming! I’ve been asked to collaborate in a few projects that are well outside of my comfort zone… I’m happy to ‘stretch my muscles’ in different directions. It feels great!

Also, at the beginning of August I will be moving to a new big, beautiful studio in the West end of Toronto – my finger tips are tingling in anticipation! : )

I’ve been awarded a Project Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. This will allow me to create a very large, labour-intensive drawing which will become a sculpture. It is a major project (7 – 9 months of drawing) – I am very excited (and a little nervous : ) about creating it! I am humbled and very grateful for the support.

Springing ahead into a little exhibition in my neighbourhood at:

The Mascot 1267 Queen St. West

Come by for a coffee and checkout my “Three Hole” installation and a new drawing (Starting March 13). The “Three Hole” piece involves about 34 framed photos of ‘faces’ that I’ve found all over the world over the past several years. This work has been shown once in Calgary at TNG, and I am happy to have the opportunity to show it in my new neighbourhood!
