I’m back in Toronto now, getting re-adjusted to life in Parkdale. I’m excited to get back to the both the art and jewellery studios! And am looking forward to bringing some of the energy that I found in Halifax to my home here. I hope that I will have polished-up my jewellery collections by the beginning of February. There are also some small shows in the works… more to come…

From November 1 to early 2011, I am temporarily living in the North end of Halifax, and commuting to my full time job in Mahone Bay. Long days and fun nights in my favorite town by the sea!
‘Collapse’ PORTloggia, NSCAD

I had a great time in Halifax – getting to know the new campus, making new work, and visiting with friends; old and new. ‘Collapse’ involves building 5″x5″ cards up (like a house of cards), and allowing them to fall down as the day progresses – creating sculptures that become drawings. The process was repeated about every second day, as I re-built the cards, and they continued to fall down… This was an experimental piece for me. It seems as though it has expanded the way I think about some aspects of my work, and put into perspective some other points which I have been struggling with.

I’m having a great time here in Halifax – every day a reminder of the wonderful art community that I’ve been missing!
The opening for ‘Collapse’ at the PORTloggia Gallery is tomorrow: August 10th @ 5:30. I will also be giving a talk on Wed. 18th at noon in the boardroom at the Granville campus.
As well, Lucy Howe will be opening ‘Linked’ at the PORTloggia Gallery on the same evening.

I will be in Halifax for the month of August – I’ll be participating in a residency at NSCAD for the entire month. Looking forward to reconnecting with the art community and long-lost friends in the city!

On Saturday May 15th, I will be showing work at an interesting venue: Arts for Social and Environmental Justice Symposium, at the Royal Conservatory of Music on Bloor Street in Toronto. I will be doing an ice-house melt/performance at noon and 3pm at the Philosopher’s Walk entrance (between the RCM and ROM). There will also be a series of drawings exhibited, but I think that the exhibition is only available to attendees….
